Bend High School–Based Health Center to Open Ahead of Schedule

By Emily Boynton, Senior Development Officer for Mosaic Community Health.

At Mosaic, we believe every young person deserves access to timely, compassionate care. As such, I’m excited to share that our newly re-located School-Based Health Center (SBHC) at Bend Senior High School will reopen to patients in March 2026, earlier than originally planned. Our staff is scheduled to move into the new space soon, bringing us one step closer to welcoming students back.

SBHCs are open to any youth in the community age 0–18; they do not need to be a student at the school where the SBHC is located or a Mosaic patient — and we partner with providers throughout the community to ensure continuity of care.

Partnerships are key to SBHCs, and in addition to other community providers, we work closely with school districts and county health departments for each of our SBHC locations.

The newly located space for the Bend High SBHC will almost double our previous space on the Bend High campus and help us to continue to meet a growing community need for youth health services. Last year alone, the Bend High SBHC cared for nearly 700 students, and we expect the demand for accessible medical and behavioral health services to continue rising.

I often hear from families how Mosaic’s team-based care approach makes a difference: It makes them feel supported, heard and confident their children and teens can get the care they need, when they need it. One mother recently shared how her daughter, struggling with anxiety, received both a medical evaluation and immediate behavioral health support during a single visit at a Mosaic SBHC. Her daughter began therapy that same week — an outcome made possible because our behavioral and medical teams work together under one roof.

As we prepare to open this renovated and expanded health center, our work continues. We are currently seeking community support to help furnish and equip the new space, and to sustain Mosaic’s mission across Central Oregon. Tax-deductible gifts can be made at mosaicch.org/donate.
