Reflections on the Past + Future from our Board of Directors

Keep reading to hear thoughts from some of Mosaic’s wonderful board member’s on the last 20 years and aspirations for the next 20 years.

Miguel Angel Herrada: Miguel Angel is Mosaic’s current vice chair and has been on the board for over eight years. When not generously donating his time to Mosaic and his full-time job, Miguel spends his time as an ethnomusicologist.

Q: When considering Mosaic’s future, what are you most excited for?

“In the future I am most excited to see Mosaic reinforce work with the School-Based Health Centers and underrepresented groups while maintaining sustainability and quality.”

Q: If you could tell the community one thing about Mosaic, what would it be?

“I would like everyone to know that Mosaic is not just a clinic, but a tool to create change and support the needs of the community—and the community can participate in that change.”

Jeff Baker: Jeff is a patient board member. He is heavily involved with the board and various internal board committees.

Q: What are you most proud of that the organization has accomplished in the past 20 years?

“I’m most proud of the Mosaic story—The Ochoco Community Clinic in Prineville growing to 14 clinics with dentistry and other services. It is a really unique situation for growth and scope with a focus on underrepresented populations.”

Q: If you could tell the community one thing about Mosaic, what would it be?

“The care at Mosaic stacks up against any in the area. There’s a reason I have my children at Mosaic. The quality is there, in addition to the coverage.”

Chandra Atwood: Chandra has been a patient representative on the Mosaic board for four years and is the current board secretary.

Q: When considering’s Mosaic’s future, what are you most excited for?

“Mosaic has this huge wrap around support system for Central Oregon and in the future I hope to see Mosaic expand services and provide more mental health services.”

Q: If you could tell the community one thing about Mosaic, what would it be?

“To me, trust is earned, and Mosaic has earned my trust and now I’m the board secretary!”

Jean Stevens: Jean has been a patient representative on the board for six years and was a member of the Bend Patient Advisory Council before that.

Q: What are you most proud of that the organization has accomplished in the last 20 years?

“I am proud that Mosaic’s mission is always evolving (like adding dental care), as well as our mindset of reaching every community and every person in the community and providing them with comprehensive care.”

Q: What does success for Mosaic look like to you?

“A successful Mosaic pays attention to the foundation because if we mess around with the foundation we will collapse, and in my opinion, the foundation is the staff.”
