Six Tips for Creating Healthy Habits

It’s always a good time to focus on making positive, healthy changes in your life. Read on for tips to help you create lasting, healthy habits:

  1. Get clear about why you want to make change in your life. Having a higher purpose can help motivate you.
  2. Set small, achievable goals to start with. And keep track of your progress so you can see how your efforts build up over time. Slow and steady intention leads to success.
  3. Be specific about your goals. Avoid general goals such as “sleep healthy” and instead focus on getting at least eight hours of sleep each night.
  4. Celebrate your achievements along the way. Reward yourself for milestones met and have grace for yourself if you slip up.
  5. Habit stack: connect your new habit to one that you already have. For example, go for a walk every evening after you feed your dogs.
  6. Practice your new habit every day. Consistency will help your new habit stick and become part of your daily routine.
